Summary

The Equipment Operator is responsible for operating and supporting automated and non-automated equipment used in label manufacturing and Onsert booklet production. The role involves equipment setup, production monitoring, inspection, troubleshooting, maintenance, and process improvement while ensuring labels meet client specifications, approved proofs, SOPs, Work Instructions, cGMP requirements, quality standards, and production schedules. The position requires strong attention to detail, technical equipment knowledge, problem-solving ability, teamwork, and a commitment to safety, quality, and operational efficiency while working on the 3rd shift.

Responsibilities

• Operate and assist with the setup of Onsert booklet equipment and integrated automated vision inspection systems.
• Perform pre-printing and post-printing processes associated with production jobs.
• Die-cut narrow-web pressure-sensitive materials using steel-rule die tooling.
• Review client-approved proofs and associated documents to ensure labels meet established specifications.
• Set up computerized production runs and Bulk Transfer Labels using CLPS proprietary software.
• Monitor production processes for accuracy, completeness, quality, and compliance with SOPs and Work Instructions.
• Meet daily and monthly production goals and schedules.
• Identify and communicate production obstacles and job-related problems to management.
• Troubleshoot equipment and production issues and identify appropriate solutions.
• Inspect label materials during production and perform manual adjustments to correct printing and orientation inconsistencies.
• Operate equipment in a controlled manner to minimize waste and defects.
• Maintain equipment according to standard procedures, safety guidelines, cleaning requirements, and preventative maintenance practices.
• Process returns of unused base stock after computerization has been completed and shipped.
• Identify and communicate low inventory levels of consumables and equipment parts to management.
• Work independently to plan, set up, and manufacture various label constructions according to client requirements.
• Follow established SOPs, Work Instructions, company policies, and current cGMP requirements.
• Identify and recommend improvements to products, processes, efficiency, and productivity.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment.
• Work effectively in a fast-paced environment and support teamwork to meet production timelines.
• Cross-train and become proficient in operating three or more pieces of equipment within the department.
• Support the Team Leader and Manager in training and mentoring team members.
• Promote best practices to ensure jobs are completed to the highest quality standards.
• Conduct all activities safely and efficiently while supporting Client values.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of label manufacturing processes and various label constructions.
• Ability to operate automated and non-automated manufacturing equipment.
• Knowledge of Onsert booklet equipment and automated vision inspection systems.
• Knowledge of steel-rule die cutting and narrow-web pressure-sensitive materials.
• Ability to interpret client-approved proofs, specifications, SOPs, and Work Instructions.
• Proficiency in computerized production systems and ability to use CLPS proprietary software.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
